SHOWER SCREEN
MAINTENANCE GUIDE

Initial Care Steps

For the performance and longevity of your Kwik Glass shower screen, it’s crucial to refrain from using it within the first 24 hours after installation. This precaution is vital to allow the silicone seals to cure around the shower enclosure. Any premature interference, such as touching or wetting the silicone or moving the screen, could compromise the seal and potentially result in leaks in the future, voiding any warranty.

IMPORTANT: 1 week after the installation and monthly following:

  • Please use the align key provided to tighten the hinges to prevent the door dropping over time.
  • Overtime, with constant wear and tear, the screens holding the hinges will become loose and worn, causing the door to drop. Therefore, monthly maintenance is a must
  • We are happy to come back and realign the door later but a call out fee will be charged

Regular Upkeep for Your Shower Screen

Daily Cleaning Routine

To keep your shower screen in good condition, it’s essential to take care of it. After every use, wiping the screen with a cloth or squeegee is a good idea. This regular maintenance helps get rid of water and stops soap scum and tough water stains from building up, which could make the glass less clear over time. Ensuring the adequately dried glass and metal parts will help maintain their attractiveness and usefulness.

Proper Cleaning Techniques

Even though the shower screen is constructed from durable safety glass, it remains susceptible to damage if not correctly cared for. It is essential to shield the glass from temperatures and prevent contact with hot or cold water. Sudden temperature changes may strain the glass, increasing the likelihood of harm.

Keeping Your Shower Screen

Weekly Cleaning Routine

In addition to wiping it down, doing a more thorough cleaning every week is essential. Here is a step-by-step guide;

  1. Rinse: Begin by rinsing the glass with water to remove particles.
  2. Clean; Mix some soap with warm water. Use a cloth to clean the glass and remove any stubborn dirt or soap scum.
  3. Thorough Rinse: Rinse the screen with water to remove any remaining soap residue.
  4. Dry: Use a cloth to dry the screen completely, ensuring no watermarks are left behind.

What Not to Do

Make sure you steer clear of cleaning products that contain acids or alkalis and stay away from tools like steel wool pads or sharp objects. These could cause scratches on the glass and harm the metal components. Certain parts of your shower screen might be coated with lacquer, which could get ruined if you scrub it hard or use chemicals.

Preventing and Dealing with Leaks

Understanding the Seals on Shower Screens

Even though shower screens are made to keep water inside the area, they are only partially waterproof. Factors like how the shower area is set up, where the shower head is placed, and the kind of doors (like swing doors with drip seals) used in the enclosure can affect the chances of leaks. Stylish frameless glass screens could be more prone to leaks because they don’t have overlapping gasketed joints.

Dealing with Water Leakage

If you see any leaks, you must repair them to avoid water damage and ensure your shower enclosure functions correctly. Here at Kwik Glass, we are committed to assisting you in addressing leak problems and providing solutions.
